We have a free, members-only internet Message Board – groups.yahoo.com/group/nvscp -- that allows members to introduce themselves, ask questions, get advice, make referrals, accept referrals, suggest clinical and practice management resources, and discuss issues. Several referrals are posted nearly daily and the dialogues are lively, interesting and very informative. You have the option of conveniently recieving messages from the Message Board to your email box like a listserv*. Alternatively, you may prefer to go to the Message Board website to read and post messages. To learn more, contact our NVACP Message Board Moderator, Robin Knoblach at 703-995-4865.

Instructions for Signing Up

1. Duration: 0-60 secs. [Skip this step if you already have a Yahoo email account.] Go to www.Yahoo.com and open a free Yahoo email account by clicking that option. You NEVER have to use the Yahoo email account if you don’t want to. Why bother then? Yahoo hosts our Message Board at no cost to us but requires participants to have a “Yahoo ID#”/email account.
2. Duration: 30-45 secs. Go to www.groups.yahoo.com/group/NVSCP and click on Join. On the next screen, write something like “I’m a NVACP member, and I wanna join your fun and useful Message Board.” Be sure to give your name, so we can verify if you’re a NVACP member. Then click Send.
3. Duration: 30-75 secs. Dr. Robin will verify your membership, who will in a day or so send you an email inviting you to partake after you read the sensible Rules for the Message Board. You have indicate that you will play by the rules such as no “flaming” (i.e., angry verbal attacks) and no so-called “anti-trust” behavior (e.g., using the Message Board to encourage members not to participate in an insurance plan).
4. Duration: 15-30 secs. Once you receive the notice that you can use the Message Board, go to www.Yahoo.com to sign in with your password. Enter the groups.yahoo.com/group/NVSCP address and click the Edit Membership menu option on the upper left quadrant. Indicate your preference about having all the posted messages sent automatically to the email account of choice (the listserv option). If you decide the non-automatic option, you can always read the Message Board postings when you go to the website, groups.yahoo.com/group/NVSCP. You can, of course, change your preference anytime by the Edit Membership route.

Accessing the Message Board

• Simply go to www.groups.yahoo.com/group/nvscp, or www.yahoo.com, or click on blue highlighted website at the bottom of an email you receive from the Message Board. You do not have to go the Message Board website to reply to an email.
