“What is a Clinical Psychologist,” you ask?
“Clinical” refers to “the treatment and evaluation of psychological problems.” Our members are qualified to evaluate and treat emotional, interpersonal, cognitive, and behavioral problems such as anxiety, depression, stress, substance abuse, relationship issues, and many others.
After graduation from college, clinical psychologists spend an average of seven years in graduate education training and research before receiving a doctoral degree. As part of their professional training, they must complete a supervised clinical internship in an organized health care setting and at least one year of post-doctoral supervised experience before they can practice independently in any health care arena. Psychologists must also pass a rigorous written exam administered by the state’s licensing board and adhere to a strict code of professional ethics. It's this combination of training and experience that distinguishes clinical psychologists from many other mental health care providers.”
